The first jigsaw puzzle ever made was a map of the world. Englishmen, John Spilsbury, an engraver and mapmaker invented it, in 1767. He attached a map to a piece of wood and then cut out each country. Teachers used his puzzles to teach geography to their students. Today puzzles come in all different shapes and sizes, from 5 pieces to 18,000 pieces, from flat to three-dimensional. There are even puzzle clubs that bring people together to share their love of puzzles. You can find a puzzle in almost every country on Earth.
Puzzles are relaxing and fun for the entire family. I started “Mr. Puzzle Head” out of my passion for assembling puzzles. It’s a funny name for a guy, but a fitting one. When puzzles are your life, and puzzles are always on your brain—the name Mr. Puzzle Head fits. We offer the largest selections of jigsaw puzzles anywhere in the world. There is something for everyone here from little Amanda to Grandma Ann. Our goal is to make everyone happy.
One of my fondest childhood memories is of building puzzles with my grandfather. I spent a lot of time on the weekends at my grandparent’s house. On rainy days and even a few sunny ones--we would sit for hours talking about life and sorting through puzzle pieces. Grandpa would give me advice on everything from writing a book report to talking to girls. I solved a lot of problems on their screened in front porch, drinking lemonade and watching images come alive. Today my wife and I share that love with our children. We have two daughters and they all enjoy the art of puzzle making.
It’s never too early to introduce your young children to the skill-building fun of puzzles. It’s a pastime that will help you bond with your children, all while teaching them valuable skills. Puzzles help children learn to solve problems. By trying several ways to fit a puzzle piece in place, they are learning the value of flexible thinking, and of persistence. They also help build their fine motor skills by manipulating the pieces and fitting them in their proper space. As they get older and are ready for smaller pieces they will sharpen their skills by learning to look for more details in exploring where the pieces go. They begin to develop strategies for accomplishing tasks, which is a crucial part of effective learning. My wife is an elementary school teacher and she uses puzzles in her classroom everyday.
As we get older, we look for ways to help us relax after a long days work. There is no better past time that is more relaxing than assembling a puzzle. It helps to keep your mind sharp and will also taking the stress out of your day. Many retirement homes keep lots of puzzles around to help seniors keep their minds active. Keeping your mind sharp by putting puzzles together may even help fighting Alzheimer's.
So no age is too young and no age is too old to put your heads together and do a puzzle. Mr. Puzzle Head is sure to help you pick out a great one. Thanks for stopping by, hope you visit again soon and often.
